The Beverly Hills Police Officers Association was incorporated in 1975 and provides college tuition assistance for the children of sworn members of all ranks as well as supplemental insurances and legal defense. The BHPOA also represents Sergeants and Police Officers concerning labor negotiations. Throughout the year, the BHPOA gives generously to numerous local charities, including The Maple Counseling Center, Beverly Hills Education Foundation and The Beverly Hills Firemen’s Association, to name a few. Additionally, the BHPOA awards a scholarship each spring to a Beverly Hills High School graduating senior.
The BHPOA hosts numerous events throughout the year. Each September, approximately 1,000 community members attend Police Service Day/Pancake Breakfast. Complimentary pancakes are prepared and served by sworn and civilian Police Department employees in the Civic Center Plaza, followed by guided tours of the police building and interactive police equipment displays. The annual Black and White Ball is held in November and welcomes nearly 1,000 residents and members of the Beverly Hills business community. Each year attendees enjoy both silent and live auctions, dinner, entertainment and commemorate the department’s annual awards. The proceeds directly benefit the BHPOA’s Supplemental Medical Benefit Trust.
